Message from the Principal

Dear Boggy Creek Elementary Families, Students, Staff, and Community Partners,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at Boggy Creek Elementary School!

As we begin a new year together, I am filled with excitement, gratitude, and optimism for what lies ahead. Our Manatee family has accomplished incredible things, and we are proud of the growth, resilience, and dedication demonstrated by our students, staff, and families.

At Boggy Creek Elementary, we believe that every student matters, every gain counts, and every day presents an opportunity to learn, lead, and grow. Our mission is to ensure that all students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for success in school and beyond.

As a proud Dual Language and AVID school, we remain committed to fostering academic excellence, leadership, college and career readiness, and bilingualism. Through engaging instruction, meaningful relationships, and high expectations, we will continue to create a learning environment where every child can thrive.

This year, our focus will center on:

  • Academic Excellence through rigorous, standards-based instruction
  • Student Growth by celebrating progress and achievement for every learner
  • Leadership Development through AVID and student leadership opportunities
  • Positive School Culture where students feel safe, valued, and connected
  • Family Partnerships that strengthen student success

We know that our greatest achievements happen when schools and families work together. Your support, involvement, and encouragement make a tremendous difference in the lives of our students.

As we move forward together, let us remember:

Every Student Counts.
Every Gain Matters.
Every Day Counts.
Every Point Counts.
Every Manatee Makes Waves.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. I am honored to serve as Principal of Boggy Creek Elementary School and look forward to an amazing year of learning, leadership, and success.

Together, we will continue making waves and reaching new heights!

With Manatee Pride,

Yara Tavarez-DeLaFuentes

Testimonials

Staff Member

It's been an honor for me as a parent to have my two children here. My son is only in second grade, but I believe that the dual language program is very powerful to be here in this community, and not only because they can continue with the same language that they learn at home, but I don't want them to lose that language. Aside from Dual Language, the AVID program has assisted both of my children in organizing their thoughts and their writing and help them strive academically.

Student

I am a very gifted student, so they put me in the Dual Language class. When I first got here in pre-K, my first language was Spanish, so I did not know much English. Thanks to the Dual Language program, I would say my English is very good.

Parent

When we moved down here from Massachusetts, we weren't sure what the community was really going to look like. And my son has absolutely thrived coming to Boggy Creek and since transitioning to middle school. He's a straight-A student, and he's not afraid to advocate for himself, and that's one big thing here at Boggy Creek is that the students’ voices really matter.

Parents

My connection with Boggy Creek started a long time ago. I was a student here when we first moved to Kissimmee, so I started here in first grade and stayed through fifth grade. Now I get to see my boys go to school here and experience things and see how the school has grown in, you know, 25-plus years. It’s been really great to see all the opportunities that they get from coming to a school that’s as connected to the community as Boggy Creek is.

Student

Boggy Creek is like a family to me because they are there for me and they help me when I'm sad or anxious.

Student

That’s why I participate in drama club, so I can help myself learn those tactics and have better grades. I’m going to be going to Osceola County School for the Arts next year. It is a big jump from having two teachers to having seven, but Boggy Creek has prepared me for much in my future.

Teacher

To be a manatee means being able to collaborate and work as a team, both from the parents’ perspective and the teachers’ perspective. We hold each other accountable because we both want them to succeed and to further their education. That's why we instill the AVID mindset in our classrooms.
